Xbox Developer_Direct 2024: Exciting Reveals and Anticipated Gameplay Showcases

Xbox is presenting its latest Developer_Direct installment this week, showcasing some of the publisher’s recent releases. In contrast to typical industry conferences, the games featured in these events are already known, but that doesn’t mean Xbox is averse to surprises.

The previous Xbox & Bethesda Developer_Direct in January had announced titles such as Redfall, Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom, Forza Motorsport 2023, and Minecraft Legends. However, it also pleasantly surprised viewers with Tango Gameworks’ Hi-Fi Rush, which turned out to be my game of the year and earned a spot among Laptop Mag’s Game of the Year entries.

To catch Xbox Developer_Direct 2024, tune in on Thursday at 12 pm PT / 3 pm ET / 8 pm BT on YouTube or Twitch. Following this, a special 2024 Global Reveal stream for The Elder Scrolls Online will be hosted by ZeniMax Online Studios at 1 pm PT / 4 pm ET / 9 pm BT, ensuring that the first Developer_Direct will not exceed an hour.

As with most Xbox Developer_Direct showcases, the lineup for this Thursday is well-known. Obsidian Entertainment, Ninja Theory, Machine Games, and Oxide Games will take center stage.

Obsidian is set to reveal Avowed, providing a “deep dive” into its gameplay. Oxide will showcase gameplay for Ara: History Untold, a new historical strategy game from the creators of Civilization V. Ninja Theory will offer a fresh look at Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, providing behind-the-scenes insights into the game’s development. There are rumors of a May 21 release for Hellblade 2, so an official release date announcement is likely during this presentation.

For many gamers, the highlight may be Machine Games’ Indiana Jones adaptation. Although in-game footage has yet to be seen, the presentation promises a first look at actual gameplay, along with developer insights into its setting, story, and mechanics.

While Hi-Fi Rush took the gaming community by surprise, it’s uncertain if there will be similar unexpected reveals this time. Xbox projects known but not seen in a while include Perfect Dark, Everwild, The Elder Scrolls 6, Clockwork Revolution, Fable, The Outer Worlds 2, South of Midnight, and State of Decay 3.

Any potential surprises might involve these listed games. If not, the event promises an exciting lineup of known titles. Although a shadow drop release is unlikely, the hope is to witness some unexpected revelations from Xbox. Either way, the event will be covered live, so stay tuned for updates.
